That work shapes how we approach the Australian market. Training for an Australian agency or a regulated enterprise is not the same as training a startup engineering team. The technology is the easy part. The harder part is that the same skills have to be exercised inside the ISM, the PSPF and, increasingly, IRAP-assessed environments.

Databricks, IRAP and the September 2026 compliance deadline
If your team runs Azure Databricks and processes IRAP-regulated data, there is a deadline worth planning around.
Azure Databricks requires the Compliance Security Profile for HIPAA, HITRUST and IRAP regulated workloads from 1 September 2026. Enabling it is not a portal toggle. It brings a hardened image, enhanced monitoring and automatic cluster updates, but it also introduces permanent configuration choices, a Premium-tier dependency, an add-on charge, feature restrictions, VNet encryption requirements, and the real possibility of cluster startup failures where prerequisites are missing.
The practical response is a workspace-by-workspace assessment, a representative sandbox, an end-to-end network and compute test, and clear ownership of the monitoring evidence the profile generates. That is a capability question before it is a configuration question, and it is exactly what our Azure Databricks Platform Administration and Security programme covers.
Broader context for Australian teams: Databricks on AWS has completed an IRAP assessment at the PROTECTED classification, evaluated against the PSPF, the Australian Government Information Security Manual and the DTA's Secure Cloud Strategy. Agencies and regulated entities can build on that, but the platform being assessable does not mean a given workspace is configured correctly. That gap is where most of the risk sits, and it is a training problem as much as an architecture one.

Training that accounts for ISM, PSPF and Essential Eight
Australian government agencies and their supply chains work under a specific control environment, and it is currently shifting.
PSPF and the ISM
The Protective Security Policy Framework mandates Essential Eight Maturity Level 2 for Commonwealth entities, with annual attestation. The ISM sits underneath it as ASD's technical control catalogue, running to more than 800 controls across governance, communications security and ICT security.
Essential Eight in transition
On 24 June 2026 the ASD confirmed the Essential Eight will be replaced by a new Essentials series, with both frameworks running side by side for roughly 12 months before deprecation. It remains current guidance, tenders and insurers still measure against it, and the controls map into the new framework, so uplift work already done is not wasted.
SOCI and Privacy Act reform
Critical infrastructure obligations and Privacy Act changes extend similar expectations well beyond the public sector, into energy, water, transport, health and financial services.
Where it is relevant to a client's environment, our cloud, DevOps and data platform curricula are built to reflect these constraints rather than teaching a technology in a vacuum. We are a training provider, not a compliance assessor, and we do not certify Essential Eight maturity or conduct IRAP assessments. What we do is make sure your team understands the environment they are deploying into.

Onsite
Trainers travel to your site. We do not maintain an office or training centre in Australia, so sessions run at your premises or a venue you nominate. Standard programmes run three to five days.
Live online in AEST
Real-time instructor-led delivery scheduled to Australian business hours, not recorded video and not a session timed for another hemisphere. AEST, AEDT and AWST all workable.
Distributed cohorts
For organisations running teams across Australia and offshore delivery centres, we run parallel cohorts scheduled to each region rather than forcing everyone into one slot.
Labs against real infrastructure
Our Oracle Linux and OLVM content was built and live-tested against real OCI infrastructure. Where your security policy permits, labs run in your own environment rather than a generic sandbox.

Who teaches your team
Uptut delivers through a network of 300+ practising industry trainers, selected per engagement by technology stack and domain rather than assigned from a general roster.
Curriculum design is led by founder Saurabh Dhingra, with 16 years in enterprise IT training and consulting and over 12,000 hours delivered across Data Engineering, AI Engineering, DevOps, Cloud and QA automation.
We name your assigned trainer and share their profile and credentials before an engagement is confirmed. For larger rollouts, a paid pilot session with the actual delegates can be arranged so you can evaluate the trainer and the lab environment before committing.
Contracting, invoicing and procurement
Uptut has no registered entity in Australia. Australian engagements are contracted through our Singapore-registered entity, or through our India entity where preferred.
- Invoicing in SGD, USD, EUR, GBP and INR through a multi-currency account held in Singapore
- ISO 27001 certified, which matters for vendor security assessments and government supply chain requirements
- Purchase orders, vendor onboarding, security questionnaires and standard enterprise procurement processes supported
- Delivery is also available through Australian training partners where an agency requires a local contracting entity
We say this plainly rather than implying an Australian presence we do not have. For most enterprise training engagements it makes no practical difference. Where a procurement process requires an ABN-registered supplier, we work through a local partner and will tell you so up front.
Training grants and funding in Australia
There is no broad Australian government subsidy for customised corporate IT training of the kind we deliver.
State-based vocational training subsidies exist, and they can substantially reduce the cost of Certificate and Diploma qualifications, but they apply to accredited VET qualifications delivered by Registered Training Organisations. Uptut is not an RTO and does not deliver accredited VET qualifications. Our programmes are customised, non-accredited, instructor-led technical training.
In practice, Australian clients contract our programmes directly from a team's training or capability budget. Where a business case is needed, we can provide a scoped curriculum, expected capability outcomes and a fixed quote to support internal approval.
If accredited VET delivery with subsidy is a hard requirement, an RTO is the right route and we will say so.
